  • Meta’s Future Lies With Judge as FTC Antitrust Trial Ends

Meta Platforms has done all it can in court to fight back at the US Federal Trade Commission’s claims that it’s a monopoly. Now it’s up to a federal judge to decide whether the company should be broken up.

The seven-week trial wrapped up Tuesday, and now each side has four months to make its case in writing. Then US District Judge James Boasberg will decide whether Meta has an illegal monopoly in the social media market, and whether that dominance stemmed from its acquisitions of Instagram and  WhatsApp — deals for popular applications that closed more than a decade ago.

The FTC argues Meta, then known as Facebook, bought the two companies in 2012 and 2014 rather than compete with them. The agency argued Meta made the acquisitions to reinforce its monopoly in the slice of the social networking market that’s focused on connections between friends and family. If Boasberg sides with the FTC and finds the company illegally monopolized that market, it’s possible Meta could be forced to spin off InstagramWhatsApp, or both. That process could still take years to play out. If Meta wins outright, the FTC is expected to quickly appeal. But Boasberg’s ruling will only address whether the company violated the law. If he sides with the FTC, that will trigger another trial over how to address the harm from Meta’s conduct.

It’s unclear when Boasberg will issue a ruling, though it could come before the end of the year.

A Meta spokesperson called the FTC’s case weak and said the trial revealed the competitive nature of the technology industry. The FTC maintains that only a full sale of both assets will fix the problem. Boasberg, though, will have some latitude to come up with his own solution. He could find that only one of the deals was illegal and require only a sale of that service. Or he could decide something else not yet contemplated by the FTC.

Lawyers for the FTC have spent recent weeks in Washington grilling various Meta executives, including Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg, about the company’s acquisitions and its leading role in the social networking industry. The FTC has argued that Meta dominates a narrowly defined segment of the social networking market referred to as “Personal Social Networking Services,” which focuses on friends and family sharing.

  • Mom Thinks She Ordered Cooking Utensils Online, Receives Stickers Instead

Ever ordered a household item online only for it to turn out to be something else entirely when it’s delivered? Recently, a woman in Dubai was left shocked when she received stickers of household appliances she ordered online instead of the appliances themselves. As it turns out, the fault was hers only. Nevertheless, the incident has gone viral and left many social media users in stitches. The post was shared by her daughter, who seems to be of Indian origin. Video creator Suchita Ojha took to Instagram to explain how her mother’s mix-up. The video starts with her saying in a rather amused tone: “My mother is so obsessed with Temu.

She recently bought something which was unexpected.”We then see Suchita’s mom scrolling the website and pointing to what she thought was a vacuum cleaner. The product specifications are visible on the screen, but it seems her attention was caught by the images only. Suchita shows us what actually arrived – colourfully detailed stickers of the appliance. Next, the mom shows the cooking utensils she wanted, some of which are depicted on a stovetop. She was again mistaken, as her daughter shows us that they are actually stickers only and starts laughing. Her mom points to the stickers and says in frustration, “Where will I cook this one? Where will I stick? My forehead?” In the caption, Suchita clarified that her mother “didn’t even read that it was stickers, she just saw the picture and ordered randomly.”

The viral video has clocked over 2 million views so far. In the comments, many Instagram users seemed to find the mistake quite hilarious. Several people felt that she should have read the product description first, which clearly specified that they were stickers. Others pointed out that the size and the price should have hinted at the fact that they would not be an actual appliance. Read some of the reactions below:”The description literally says ‘stickers’ but this is so funny.”

    “It looks exactly the same.”

    “Love thissss.”

    “It says 17cm width LMAO.”

    “I can’t stop laughing.”

“It’s happened to me, so I can’t even say this is a ‘mom thing’.”

“My god! I can see the Temu shows sizes like 6 inches or so! What else to expect in that size… A mini toy vacuum??”

  • The Social Media Post That Got RCB Into Legal Trouble After Bengaluru Stampede That Killed 11

Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s joy of winning a first IPL title in 18 years turned tragic as 11 people lost their lives in stampede at a planned victory parade on Wednesday. The RCB team members, including Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar, were felicitated at the Vidhan Soudha by Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah at around 5 PM IST after which there was a planned open bus parade. Lakhs of people gathered around the area where it was supposed to take place. It turned tragic as 11 died and close to 50 people got injured in the event. Now, a social media post by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) is under scrutiny. The management of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will face official scrutiny over a social media post announcing a public victory parade, made just hours before a deadly stampede at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium that killed at least 11 people and left 47 injured. The probe will also include senior members of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), whose role in planning the felicitation ceremony is now under review by Bengaluru Police and a magisterial inquiry panel.

At 3:14 pm on June 4, RCB’s official account on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) posted an announcement confirming a “Victory Parade” scheduled to begin at 5 pm from the Vidhana Soudha to the Chinnaswamy Stadium, followed by a felicitation event inside the stadium. The post included a link for free passes, declaring “limited entry” and requesting fans to adhere to police guidelines.BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia talked to NDTV and admitted ‘some lapses’ were there on the part of the organisers.

“I am not in a fault finding mission at this moment without knowing the complete fact. Whenever these kinds of events are being organised, if you take the example of how BCCI organised such victory celebration after India won the T20 World Cup in West Indies last year, there was a thorough planning with local cricket association – that is the Mumbai Cricket Association – as well as the Mumbai authorities, which includes the police, the fire brigade, the disaster management authorities. When planning that magnitude of celebration in Mumbai, when there was a sea of humanity, where so many people gathered, everything happened smoothly. Not a single untoward incident occurred because all the protocols were duly followed,” Saikia told NDTV.

  • Director Tarun Mansukhani Picks His Funniest Housefull 5 Actor. It’s Not Akshay Kumar

The year was 2010, and Sajid Khan’s Housefull unleashed a laughter riot that to date, has become the only film in the long-running franchise that is fondly missed.

Followed by multiple instalments thereafter, the fifth part drops tomorrow, with a new filmmaker, Tarun Mansukhani, taking over the director’s seat.Ahead of one of the mega releases of 2025, Mansukhani is at his nonchalant best. No ifs or buts, in fact, he jokingly mentions, “The fear isn’t whether the audience will come to the theatre, the question is, will they stay back until the curtain call? Will they discuss itIn an exclusive conversation with NDTV, the filmmaker addresses if having an ensemble cast is just for the bling factor, why the comparisons with the OG Housefull will never stop, and no, Akshay Kumar might not be the funniest in the film this time.

Why The Housefull Instalment Might Never Match Up To The First Part

“The first experience of any film is like your first true love, right?”

Mansukhani’s way of looking at the situation at hand catches you off-guard. One would expect him to give a politically correct answer, stating that maybe the times were different, maybe 15 years ago, the audience just found the kind of humour they were looking for.Tarun Mansukhani explains, “The kind of butterflies that you feel and the excitement that you get from the first part when it becomes a core memory for you, is something that you can’t compete with, so the love will always be compared. I can only hope you turn around and say that 5 was better than 1. But first love is first love.”

So, Is Tarun Mansukhani Oblivious To Social Media Backlash?

Loyal fans of Housefull will always be divided. While some find it a passage of nostalgia to get lost in because the first instalment had everyone in splits. Some only have one question racing through their minds, “What is the need to continue?”

And there’s a whole debate on it on social media.

Tarun Mansukhani has a straightforward approach to it. He says that one cannot be a saint and just pretend that it does not matter.
